School lunches today vs my day...
I don't know about you but it seems that the food at the schools are getting worse and worse. Back when I was in elementary school in California, the food was not good per-say but it was healthier then now-a-days. It could also be the fact that now I am in another state but either way it is not good. People are always talking about parents making their kids diabetic, why don't people see the food that the cafeteria gives our children is FULL of sugar. If anything the schools are helping our children get higher levels of sugar, granted it is also hereditary but why help. For example my boy doesn't eat a whole lot of sugar he has come home several times telling me that the food they give for snacks or lunch are too sweet for him to eat so much so his teeth hurt. Of course now I send him with a homemade lunch or something so if there is something they give he wants to eat he can. Needless to say they will have food he likes like Frito-boats (or what they call here Frito-pie which is Frito with chili beans and cheese and lettuce kinda like a salad), or corn-dogs, normal things. Then there days when they have sweet Mexican sweet bread or banana bread (lots of sugar I have eaten it when my son bring it to show me it grossly sweet). Pudding cups that are supper sweet, sometimes they have for breakfast the same as lunch Pizza for breakfast pizza for lunch, not once do they give good vegetables. They also give them sweet burritos with extra syrup, here in New Mexico the nutritional director for the school is either trying to give children diabetics or they really don't know what good healthy food is.Thee is also the other question of maybe the nutritional director is just trying to save money but on our kids risk... HELL NO!!! I can go on forever but I am getting myself upset again so I will leave this for you all to just think about and research your own childs school do your kids get good food at school? or do they get nothing good? Have a good day all...
